in english

We live in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada and
one of the most beautiful cities in the country. As the national capital,
Ottawa has all the amenities you would expect in a capital city. There are
hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs, 17 national museums, five
art galleries, numerous theatres and concert halls, the Parliament
buildings and, due to our location on the boarder of Québec and Ontario,
our city is perfectly bilingual in English and French.

Ottawa is a city devoted to outdoor activity and nature. Within minutes of
our home you can go white water rafting, hot air ballooning, swimming,
hiking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing. Ottawa has over 450
kilometres of nature trails, 280 kilometres of paved bike trails, 10 fresh
water beaches, 2 national parks, and 6 internationally renowned golf
courses. Ottawa is located 2 hours west of Montreal (an easy day trip), 1
hour from the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York State, and equal
distant between Toronto (Canada's largest city) and Québec City (Ottawa's
rival for Canada's most beautiful city).

For the Family

As a family, you may wonder if there are things to do with children.
Ottawa is "The Canadian Family Destination". From outdoor activities to
national museums, families flock to Ottawa because of its child-friendly
atmosphere. Unlike many museums, Canadian museums are designed for both
children and adults. All the museums (especially the Museum of Science &
Technology, the Museum of Civilization, the Aviation Museum, the Museum of
Nature, and the International Children's Museum) allow kids to play, dress
in costumes, and design and build artistic creations. (Our favourite is
the Science & Tech, where you can build a Lego structure and then see if
it will survive an earthquake!) There are 2 playgrounds less than 5
minutes walk from our home for younger kids, sports and recreation
activities for all ages, and good shopping. If you love nature you can be
hiking or camping deep in the Canadian wilderness within 15 minutes drive
from our house. We often go camping and have all the equipment we can
lend to you so that you can experience the great outdoors and maybe even
see moose, elk, beaver or the famous northern lights (aurora borealis).

Our Neighbourhood

We live in Centretown, a quiet, tree-lined residential neighbourhood in
the heart of the downtown. You can walk to shops, restaurants, bakeries,
grocery stores, pubs, nightclubs, shopping centres and every event or
attraction in the downtown, and the many nearby stops of the local public
transportation system can get you to anywhere in the city quickly and
efficiently.

Our Home

We own a 284 square meter, 3-bedroom Victorian home. On the main floor we
have an office (with computer, high-speed Internet, fax, stereo and TV), a
full bathroom with shower, and a large eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is
completely renovated with gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher,
and most other modern conveniences. The kitchen leads into our living
area, which is complete with a queen-sized pull-out sofa, TV, stereo and a
patio door leading into our private garden. The garden has a deck with gas
bar-b-que, table and chairs, and a 100-year-old maple tree that provides
lots of shade and privacy.

The upstairs floor has 3 bedrooms and another full bath. Two bedrooms have
queen-sized beds, and the other is the baby's room with a crib, change
table, rocking chair and dresser. The washer and dryer are in the
basement. We also have air-conditioning if you like to remain cool during
the summer. We can also offer a cleaning lady who comes every few weeks at
a reasonable cost, can exchange our 2006 Mazda Station Wagon (which also
has a car seat and air-conditioning), and have camping gear for outdoor
adventures.
