Bagnolet (Île de France) (Paris area), France
Two level apartment located on the upper floors of an 18 storey apartment
building. Elevator, of course. Fully secured with a reinforced metal door
and blinds. Large and cosy according to Paris standards. Lower floor: semi-open
including a living-room (with TV, video, etc) looking out onto a long balcony
with flower boxes, a diningroom and a very fonctional fully equiped
kitchen (gaz stove, micro-waves, large refrigerator, washing machine and many
cooking utilities to explore French products from the market if you feel like
it; pantry and laundry room with a dryer and storage for linen and luggage;
entrance hall, bedroom with its walk-in, small fully equiped.
There is an office with a small art library, modern bathroom and WC are located in separate area on the same floor. Upper floor: an elegant metal stairway takes you from the livingroom to the artist's studio which basically looks like a second living-room with a large desk and wideglass wall and patio doors opening onto the small roof landscaped patio, always in bloom. Nice overview of Paris suburb, landscaped regional park and of the remote Bois de Vincenne. The wood screens protect us from dominant winds and insure privacy. The large single sink is very convenient for guests, who might use the studio as a second bedroom, or for washing dishes after a long breakfast or dinner on the patio. The decoration is contemporary, as are my husband's works.
We are in a mid-eastern Paris immediate suburb, Paris being at walking distance from our home. Both the Bastille Opera and the Garnier Opera House, Chatelet, Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Musée Picasso, the old Richelieu National Library, Marais, Notre-Dame, Ile Saint-Louis, Vincenne, Père Lachaise, Buttes Chaumont Park and many other Paris attractions are at less than 30 minutes from our home by bus or metro. There are too many good restaurants and bistros in the area to test them all! We have good guides and a collection of articles to help you out in your choice. At hand you will find a large shopping centre with one of Paris' best supermarkets, a small public market, and many other small shops, bakeries, an excellent pastry shop, tobacco and newspaper stores, a print shop, drugstores, the main post office and a good local movie theatre. The public swimming pool (indoor and outdoor) is also at walking distance. From the apartment we can easily drive to Ile de France public forests, often close to nice historical castles and churches: Vincenne, Chantilly, Ermenonville, Hallatte, with Senlis Cathedral and Royaumont abbey, Compiègne, Ecouen and its Renaissance castle, Ferriere, Fontainebleau and, if the authentic ones are not enough for you, Eurodysney's fake ones are not too far (direct by bus). We are also close to the main Europcar bus station with destinations all over Europe.
A Citroen BXGT parked in the parking under the building is also available for exchange. Also a second parking place is availlable at a low fee. The roof garden needs watering after three sunny days in the summer. We own some fragile art pieces and would appreciate that they be handled with care. Somebody will be awaiting you at your arrival for explanations regarding the appliances.
We are two adults. My husband is a painter and I am an art historian. We also love cinema, music and dance and we receive many related invitations and programs. We are non smokers and ask for an exchange with non smokers. We love animals but we are allergic
